1040 - 8879 Invalid Signature Date

Issue Symptoms

When I am verifying a return, the following error message appears: ‘FRM 8879 PIN Signature Date Invalid’

 

Issue Cause

This issue can occur if an invalid signature date is entered on the 8879, or if the date or time on the computer’s system clock is incorrect.

 

Issue Resolution

Method 1 - Verify the date Entered on Form 8879:

1. Click FRM 8879 from the Attached Forms.

2. Confirm the correct date is present in the Signature Date box.

 

 

🖐 Note: Typically, the date should reflect the time of the filing, but also verify the date entered is not a future date.
