This article describes how to capture the ERO and Paid preparer’s signatures. The signatures can be captured beforehand and saved in the database or captured on a return by return basis.

 

The ERO and paid preparers are required to sign all documents. For this reason, we strongly recommend you capture your signatures in the system databases, so you only need to go through the signing process once. If you do not have the signatures stored in the system databases, the program will ask for the ERO and Paid Preparer signatures every time you request signatures from the taxpayer.

Capture the ERO signature using the database

Follow the instructions below to successfully capture the ERO signatures:

1. Click Database > EF Originators.

2. Select the ERO whose signature you wish to capture, and click Edit.

 

3. Click Capture Signature or Remote Sign.

4. Input the ERO signature using the signature pad or computer mouse (depending on your office setup).

5. Once you are satisfied with the signature, click Accept. The new signature will now be displayed in the ERO Profile.

If you would like to redo the signature, you can use the Clear button to start over.

6. Click Save

 

Capture the Paid Preparer signature using the database. 

Follow the instructions below to successfully capture the Paid Preparer signatures:

1. Click Database > Paid Preparers.

2. Select the Paid Preparer whose signature you wish to capture, and click Edit.

3. Click on Capture Signature or RemoteSign.

 

4. Input the Paid Preparer signature using the signature pad or computer mouse (depending on your office setup).

5. Once you are satisfied with the signature, click Accept. The new signature will now be displayed in the ERO Profile.

If you would like to redo the signature, you can use the Clear button to start over.6. Click Save.

 

 Capture the ERO/Paid Preparer signature in the return.

Follow the instructions below to successfully capture the ERO and Paid Preparer’s signatures in a return:

If you do not have the signatures stored in the database, the system will prompt for the ERO and Paid Preparer signatures during the taxpayer signing procedure.  

1. Click Print on the menu bar and select Final Tax Return.

Make sure the tax return has been verified successfully.

2. Click SignDoc.

3. The system will prompt you for the Tax Payer Signature.

In this case, because we do not have any signatures stored in the database, the system will also prompt for the ERO and Paid Preparer signatures.

4. After all signatures have been Accepted, the final return will include the signatures.
