How to Create a Zap

Creating a Zap in Zapier is simple and lets you automate tasks between your favorite apps. Follow these steps to build your first Zap:

1. Log in to Your Zapier Account

• Go to zapier.com and log in using your credentials.

• If you don’t have an account, you can sign up for free.

2. Navigate to the Zap Editor

• Click on the “+ Create” button in the top navigation bar and select Zaps. This opens the Zap Editor, where you’ll design your workflow.

3. Choose a Trigger App

• In the Trigger section, search for and select Crosslink (1.0.0).

• Choose a Trigger Event (e.g., "Payment Processed" or "Return Status Change").

• Authenticate your account by clicking the Account field, and entering your API Key (required).

4. Test the Trigger

• After setting up the trigger, click Test Trigger to ensure Zapier successfully pulls data from the app.

• If the test is successful, click Continue to proceed.

5. Add an Action

• Click + Add Action and choose the app you want to perform an action (e.g., Gmail, TaxDome, or Google Sheets).

• Select an Action Event (e.g., "Send Email" or "Update Contact").

• Configure the action by mapping the data from your trigger app to the fields in the action app.

6. Test the Action

• Test the action to make sure it works as expected.

• Zapier will show a success message if everything runs smoothly.

7. Name and Turn On Your Zap

• Give your Zap a descriptive name (e.g., "New Emails to Tax Return Clients").

• Toggle the “ON” button in the top-right corner to activate your Zap.

8. Manage and Edit Your Zaps

• Once your Zap is live, you can find it in your Zapier dashboard.

• Edit, turn off, or duplicate your Zap at any time from the dashboard.
