When Should a Taxpayer Itemize?
Itemized deductions exceed the standard deduction for the tax period
They are a non-resident alien
They are MFS and their spouse itemized deductions
The most common itemized deductions include:
Medical expenses
Charitable contributions
Gambling losses
Mortgage interest
Real estate/property taxes
Adding SCH A
Select Add Form.
Locate and highlight SCH A in the All Forms & Schedules Menu. Double-click to add.
Complete the SCH A, filling in all applicable sections.
You can view the amount of the taxpayer's itemized deductions and compare it with their standard deduction on the Tax Summary Page.
