This article explains how to install state packages for the CrossLink 1040.
To prepare a state return, the state package for that state must be installed.
Follow the instructions below to successfully install a State package:
Method 1 - Install the State Package from within CrossLink 1040:
1. Create/Open a tax return.
2. Click Add Form (Ctrl + A) > Select the State tab.
3. Select the state from the Available States drop down.
4. Select the State form to be added.
If the state is not currently installed, a dialog will open indicating the state package has been queued for delivery.
5. Click OK > Close.
6. Click Close on the toolbar.
7. Click Transmit on the toolbar.
If there are any tax returns in the queue that are not to be transmitted at this time, they can be unselected by clicking Filter.
8. Click Transmit. The state package will be downloaded.
9. On the Work In Progress Summary, click Software Updates under Other Items.
11. Click Apply All to install the state package.
12. Click Restart once the updates have finished installing. The program will restart.
13. The state package is now installed.
Method 2 - Install the State Package using the Web Portal:
1. Open an internet browser and navigate to Web Portal.
2. Click Customer Login.
3. Login using your account code or multi-tier master user ID.
An account code is six alpha characters sometimes followed by two numeric digits.
multi-tier users, login with the multi-tier master user ID.
4. If a state from a previous tax year is desired, click on Tax Year to change the year being modified
5. Hover over Support > select Manage Offices.
6. Under Included States select the appropriate option
Home state - sends their home state
Nearby States - sends home state and the states directly connected to the home state
All states - sends all states
7. Click update license.
8. Open CrossLink 1040.
9. Click Transmit on the toolbar.
If there are any tax returns in the queue that are not to be transmitted at this time, they can be unselected by clicking Filter.
10. Click Transmit. The state package will be downloaded.
11. On the Work In Progress Summary, click Software Updates under Other Items.
12. Click Apply All to install the state package.
13. Click Restart once the updates have finished installing. The program will restart.
14. The state package is now installed.
