This article explains how to install the Motorola Symbol scanner and configure settings to work with CrossLink 1040.

** Ensure the scanner unplugged before installation and is a supported scanner.  CrossLink software requires the DS6707-DC or DS8100 (Zebra). **

\uD83D\uDCD8 Driver Download & Installation –

  1. Browse to the program website at http://www.taxproalliance.com.

  2. Click Affiliate Login.

  3. Enter the Username and Password then click Login.

  4. Navigate to the right under Tax Software click Download Desktop Software.

  5. Scroll down and find under Drivers → Snapi Drivers for Windows 10

  6. If prompted, click Save to save the file. Once the file has finished downloading open the file.

  7. Locate the file Snapi_Drivers.zip and right click Extract all…, check the Show extracted files when complete checkbox, and then click Extract. A window will pop up showing the extracted files once complete.

  8. Double click "Motorola_Scanner_SDK_(64bit)_v2.06.0001.exe" to begin installation wizard. If a Security Warning window appears, click Run. Complete the setup wizard.

\uD83D\uDCD8 Scanner Configuration –

  1. Now, plug in your device into the computer. Wait until the scanner beeps.

  2. Depending on the model scanner, we must scan the appropriate barcodes to properly configure the scanner.

  3. Scan the appropriate Set Defaults barcode. Wait for two separate sequences of beeps from the scanner.

Please appropriately scan according to the model number. Wait for two separate sequences of beeps from the scanner. The second set of beeps should be low/medium/high beeps. Four long low beeps indicate an error.

  1. Next, scan the SNAPI with imaging barcode.

\uD83D\uDCD8 Verify Scanner Functionality –

  1. Open CrossLink 1040.

  2. Start a new tax return, or open a test return.

Do not use a real return, as the scanned document cannot easily be deleted!!

  1. Click Document Archive from the Attached Forms.

  2. In the Archived Documents Listing, click Scan.

  3. Click Snap. This is also where we can change the type of document we are scanning in.

  4. If you want to save the file, click Save.
