About Form 8949/1099-B

  • Taxpayers should use Form 8949 to reconcile amounts reported to them an the IRS on Form 1099-B or 1099-S.

  • Gains and losses from Form 8949 carry forward to SCH D.

  • Sales of stock, cryptocurrency, and capital assets (such as a home or land) would be reported on this form.


Adding Form 8949/1099-B

  1. Select Add Form.

  2. Locate and select Form 8949/1099-B. Double-click to add.

  3. Select Form 8949. Double-click to add the form.

  4. Complete the 8949, filling in all applicable sections. The sections you complete will depend on the asset(s) you are reporting.

    1. If you run out of room on the 8949/1099-B use Add Form to add a second 8949/1099-B.
