This article demonstrates how to use Multi-factor Authentication while logging into CrossLink Online using the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.
Why is MFA Required?
The IRS recently began mandating MFA to ensure tax professionals are protecting their client’s data. Setting up MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account. The user must enter a secure code sent to the user's Multi-Factor Authentication application before they will be allowed access to CrossLink Online.
Using Google Authenticator to receive a Multi-Factor Authentication Code
Download an authentication application to your smartphone. Google Authenticator is highly recommended. It can be found at the IOS App Store, or the Google Play Store.
Navigate to the Crosslink Online Log In Screen. Enter your Username and Password.
Click Log In and your unique QR Code will generate.
Launch the Google Authenticator app from your smartphone and click + to add a new account.
Click Scan a QR Code. Align your phone’s camera to scan the QR code that is shown. The code will be captured automatically.
Once the QR code is saved in Google Authenticator, click Continue to Login. The verify your account window will open.
Choose Enter a code from an App. Click Continue.
Enter the 6-digit code that is generated on the Google Authenticator app. Click Continue. Note: A new code is generated every 30 seconds.
You are now logged into CrossLink Online.
