1040 - Capturing a Signature on Topaz
This article demonstrates how to capture a signature using the Topaz Electronic Signature Pad.
Follow the instructions below to successfully capture a signature:
ERO Signature
To capture an ERO signature, follow these steps:
1. Click Database > EF Originators.
2. Double-click the applicable ERO.
3. Click Capture Signature, use the signature pad to sign and then click Accept.
4. Click Save.
5. Click Close.
Preparer Signature
To capture a preparer’s signature, follow these steps:
1. Click Database > Paid Preparers.
2. Double-click the applicable Paid Preparer.
3. Click Capture Signature, use the signature pad to sign and then click Accept.
4. Click Save.
5. Click Close.
Taxpayer Signatures
For best practice, make sure the ERO and preparer signatures are in place before proceeding.
To capture the taxpayer and/or spouse signatures for the bank documents, follow these steps:
1. Open the tax return you want to sign.
2. Click the menu option Print > Bank Documents.
3. Click SignDoc. If the SignDoc button does not appear, follow these steps:
On the Setup menu, click Printer Setup.
Select the Prompt for Tax Return PDF check box.
Click OK.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions and click Accept after each signature.
To capture the taxpayer and/or spouse signatures for the tax return, on the Print menu click Final Tax Return.
1. Click SignDoc. If the SignDoc button does not appear, follow these steps:
On the Setup menu, click Printer Setup.
Select the Prompt for Tax Return PDF check box.
Click OK.
2. Follow the onscreen instructions and click Accept after each signature.
Or click the Print menu, click Current From Only (on the 1040 or other Signature Form)
Click the SignDoc button in the Print Current Form dialog box.
